Who is Danielle Nicki?
Danielle Nicki is a creator who has focused on screenwriting since falling in love with the craft in 2012. She enjoys crafting flawed, women of color protagonists with interesting and diverse life experiences not often seen on screen.
Danielle began her professional television writing career as a staff writer on IMBb TV’s, Leverage: Redemption, and her episode, The Big Rig Job, is scheduled to air in Fall 2022. In 2021, Danielle won the inaugural Women’s Weekend Film Challenge Pilot Accelerator fellowship where she was chosen to pitch her original YA horror pilot, Welcome to Nirvana, to eight studios and production companies.
Danielle’s first completed screenplay was a Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinalist and a finalist in the Cannes screenplay competition and she has since placed as a Finalist in the Austin Film Festival competition. In 2021, Danielle was named one of the Top 25 Screenwriters To Watch by the International Screenwriting Association (ISA).
Danielle is also a published author. Her first book, The Stories of She: A Collection of Short Stories Featuring Strong Female Characters, was published in 2020 in collaboration with ten other women writers. Currently, Danielle is working on her first novel, adapted from one of her award-winning feature screenplays, Imperfect Perfection.
Danielle was born in Italy to military parents and they moved to the United States after living in Naples, Rome, and Scotland. She was raised in San Diego, CA and went to college in Los Angeles. Danielle has been married to her husband since 2003 and together they have three teenagers and a chihuahua named Bruce Wayne who provide them with endless amounts of entertainment.
